As I prepare for the marathon that is the National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo) in November, I’m going to take some time and go through the 13 chapters of my previous novel that was tentatively titled The Quotable Capering of Captain Random and look for ways to improve my writing style as well as search for ideas that would work well in the novel I have planned for NaNoWriMo. I originally started writing this novel during Freshman year of college and it kind of petered out around the end of Sophomore year. There were some late additions to the novel as I took courses that allowed me to write short stories to fit inside the framework of what I wanted to do.

The plan as it stands now is that I will edit these 13 chapters into something presentable and post them on this blog for comments and critiques so that I can learn what I should work on before November hits. Each of these chapters can stand alone as their own short story, and that was kind of the idea of the novel. Unfortunately, it lacked a predefined structure, so I am not surprised that I dropped this project. Most of these chapters have never been read by anyone other than myself, so please feel free to read and comment on them so that I can make the best product by December 1st.
